Stacey Anderson: Sunshine

Sunshine was written after there had been heavy rain in the morning and the sun had started to shine, after the rain had stopped. Stacey wasn’t well when she wrote the poem - she wanted to go out and enjoy the sunshine but couldn't, because her mental health was bad on that day.

Sunshine

Sun shines
Brightly through my window
I crouch
Writing words
The morning rain
A distant memory
The wind blows
A cool wind
The clouds float away
Leaving blue sky
I’m stuck here
Inside my home
Battling with my mind
I hope the sunshine in me will shine
To remove the bad thoughts
To blow them away
Leaving me to shine
As I know I can
