Call for submissions: Share what makes you smile in our art exhibition
This is an invitation and opportunity to share the things that make you smile and be part of the 2026 art exhibition.
We’re delighted to announce that submissions are now open for our annual community art exhibition, and this year’s theme chosen by our members, and Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SHPU) services users is Things That Make Me Smile.
The exhibition celebrates the creativity of people with lived experience of mental health, whatever that may be, alongside those who work in support services. Whether you paint, draw, write poetry, take photographs, create textiles or make sculptures, we’d love to see the work that brings this year’s theme to life.
Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can brighten our day such as a favourite place, a much-loved pet, a pastime or hobby, time spent with family or friends, music, nature, or a treasured memory. Things That Make Me Smile is an invitation to celebrate the moments, people and experiences that bring us joy, and make us smile!
The exhibition will take place at The Workstation, 15 Paternoster Row, Sheffield S1 2BX, from Thursday 1 October to Friday 30 October, and will be free for everyone to visit throughout the month.
Who can take part?
The exhibition is open to:
- People with lived experience of mental health, however that may be defined.
- People who work in support services.
You can submit up to three pieces of artwork or written work for consideration. Depending on the number of submissions we receive and the available exhibition space, one or two pieces may be selected for display.
The submission deadline is Wednesday 9th September!

We can’t wait to see your creativity
Every year, our exhibition showcases the incredible talent, imagination and creativity within our community. We hope this year’s theme inspires artwork that celebrates joy in all its forms.
We’re also excited to be venturing to a new building to showcase the exhibition taking over both floors at The Workstation, offering more space to display work and also engage with new audiences to see the fantastic talent our community has to offer.
We look forward to welcoming visitors new and old throughout October and sharing another inspiring collection of artwork created by people across Sheffield.
