Mental health friendly courses, workshops, coproduction, codesign, events – a space dedicated to learning from each other.

Our learning opportunities usually fall under either of the following categories:
Learning opportunities for our community
Training, workshops and sessions for people living with or affected by mental health issues. We invite experts and speakers from all walks of life to deliver sessions that suit the needs and interests of the Sheffield Flourish community.
Learning from lived experience
Coproduction, codesign and user testing opportunities that consults and learns from people with lived experience of mental health. We often work with partners from across the health system to get user voices into support services and policies.
Learning from digital
We offer digital inclusion workshops and training to help people build skills and confidence online, as well as access to digital equipment such as laptops and phones (subject to availability), supporting our community to stay connected and make the most of digital tools.

Learning From: Renaming the Inpatient Wards
Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust’s (SHSC) inpatient wards have been going through a series of transformations and change including refurbishment and the establishment of a second female only ward. SHSC has recognised that this provides an opportunity to give the wards a new identity and rename them. The Executive team would like to rename the wards using a codesign process that will involve people who have used SHSC services and staff.
Who – Anyone with lived experience of mental health. We particularly want to hear from those who have been an inpatient on the mental health wards, at any stage of their life.
How – there are two ways you can get involved depending on what works for you.
We are planning in-person codesign sessions where we will work together to build a shortlist of themes for renaming the wards.
We will be sending out a poll where you can vote on your favourite theme, if you are short on time but still want to input into the renaming process.
Please get in touch with Sheffield Flourish on 0114 2737009 or via [email protected].
Learning From: Mental Health Passports
We have consistently heard how frustrating it can be to have to constantly retell your mental health story when accessing new services or support. We have been working with a lived experience advisory group to codesign and review the use of a digital mental health passport.
This work builds on the previous iteration of the mental health passports coproduced by our partners Chilypep and works alongside statutory health partners and the VCS to look at a citywide approach.
Who – Anyone with lived experience of mental health and anyone who works with people within the mental health pathway.
How – this project has a number of stages, with input needed throughout. The current opportunities are:
- Join the lived experience advisory group – a small, working group that is driving all aspects of the passport development.
- Help us with the user testing of the digital mental health passport to feedback on useability.
- Book in a 1:1 meeting, if you work within the mental health pathway and your work would benefit from accessing mental health passports.
