Brunsmeer Awareness Football Club is one of the community enterprises supported by Sheffield Flourish.
The football project began in 2013 and has been going from strength to strength, with a women’s team starting in 2020.
Regular groups
Brunsmeer Awareness FC run weekly free mental health friendly ‘turn up and play’ sessions, welcoming people of any ability: open to all and for women only.
*Update on Brunsmeer Tuesday Open To All Football session Feb 2024: We are scaling back the Tuesday football sessions for a period to focus on the mental health friendly element. Therefore only people who are actively receiving mental health support from SHSC can attend, so please don’t just turn up. If you feel like you fit this criteria then please contact [email protected] for further information.
To find out more about the location and times have a look at the Brunsmeer Awareness page on the Sheffield Mental Health Guide.
“The football team has helped me build my confidence up as I am able to socialise with other people who are going through similar problems and are able to talk as well as let some steam through playing sport”

Sheffield Flourish have also partnered with the FA to run the Sheffield and Hallamshire Flourish League, an inclusive regional football league.
“Brunsmeer’s encapsulation of everything positive about the beautiful game is simply a joy to behold.”
Will Hobson, Brunsmeer attendee
